Top 10 Interesting Facts About EUR Pallets

EUR pallets (also known as EPAL pallets) are among the most important tools in logistics and warehousing. Thanks to their standard size and durability, they are used worldwide. But what is worth knowing about them? Below we present 10 interesting facts about EUR pallets.

1. Standardised size and design

EUR pallets always measure 1200x800 mm and are made according to precise specifications. This ensures interchangeability and global compatibility.

2. Outstanding load capacity

EUR pallets can withstand loads of up to 1,500 kg, and under static load their capacity can reach as much as 4,000 kg.

3. They can only be manufactured under licence

EPAL (European Pallet Association) carries out strict inspections of manufacturers, and only licensed plants are allowed to produce EUR pallets.

4. Reusable and repairable

Damaged EUR pallets can be repaired and put back into circulation if they meet the standards. This is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution.

5. They carry special markings

Every EUR pallet bears an EPAL or EUR stamp, as well as a unique identifier indicating the country of manufacture and the inspection authority.

6. Heat treatment and pest control

EUR pallets are heat-treated in accordance with international standards (ISPM 15) to eliminate pests and to meet export requirements.

7. Even their weight is standardised

A standard EUR pallet weighs approximately 25 kg, which ensures stability and easy handling.

8. They are available all over the world

As EUR pallets are standardised, they are widely used outside Europe as well, for example in Asia and North America.

9. A sustainable and environmentally friendly choice

As they can be repaired and recycled, EUR pallets significantly reduce timber consumption, thereby contributing to sustainability.

10. Counterfeits are strictly controlled

The EPAL system continuously monitors illegally manufactured pallets, and only pallets with the appropriate licence can legally enter the market.
