One-Way or EUR Pallet – 5 Differences Worth Knowing

When choosing pallets, one of the most important questions is whether to use one-way or EUR pallets. Although both serve a similar purpose, there are significant differences between them that can affect costs, load capacity and reusability.

Below we present the five most important differences.

1. Durability and service life

EUR pallets have standardised dimensions and design, which makes them more durable and longer-lasting, as they are made of harder timber. One-way pallets are manufactured from cheaper, weaker timber, so they can be used for a shorter period.

2. Reusability

EUR pallets are designed to be reused and repaired multiple times, while one-way pallets are intended more for single use and are often not worth repairing.

3. Load capacity

EUR pallets can withstand a dynamic load of up to 1,500 kg, while one-way pallets generally have a lower load capacity (between 500 and 1,000 kg). EUR pallets therefore offer a more stable solution for transporting heavier goods.

4. Price and cost-effectiveness

One-way pallets are considerably cheaper, as they are not made in a standardised manufacturing process and are designed for single use. The initial cost of EUR pallets is higher, but as they can be reused, they offer a more economical solution in the long run.

5. International shipping and standards

EUR pallets are manufactured according to international standards, so they are more readily accepted in logistics chains and export processes. One-way pallets are not always accepted for export, as they can vary in size and quality.
