EUR Pallet Dimensions and Load Capacity – What You Need to Know for Shipping

EUR pallets are fundamental tools in logistics and warehousing, used worldwide thanks to their standard size and high load capacity. Uniform sizing ensures easy handling, while the stable structure of the pallets allows heavy goods to be transported safely. Below we explain the dimensions in which they are available and the load capacity considerations to bear in mind when using pallets.

EUR pallet dimensions

EUR pallets measure 1200x800 mm, a size standardised by the European Pallet Association (EPAL). This size ensures that the pallet is compatible with most warehouse systems, forklifts and transport vehicles. Standard-sized pallets allow goods to be stored efficiently and optimise loading processes.

Load capacity and load levels

EUR pallets are specifically designed for high load capacity. The maximum load capacity depends on several factors, including the condition of the pallet and its proper use.

  • Dynamic load: The load capacity during movement (e.g. when moved by forklift) can be up to 1,500 kg.

  • Static load: When the pallet is stationary, for example on a warehouse floor, it can withstand up to 4,000 kg.

  • Racking load: When the pallet is placed in a racking system, the load capacity can vary between 500 and 1,000 kg, depending on whether the pallet is properly supported.

What should you bear in mind when using pallets?

The maximum load capacity of a pallet can only be guaranteed if the load is evenly distributed. Incorrect loading or damage to the pallet structure can reduce the load capacity.

If you intend to use the pallets for export, it is worth checking that they have the ISPM 15 heat treatment certification required for international shipments.

To reduce transport costs, it is also important to take the weight of the pallets into account. A standard EUR pallet weighs approximately 25 kg, which can affect freight costs, especially when shipping large quantities.
