EUR Pallet Buy-Back Price: 5 Factors That Influence the Purchase Price

EUR pallets are widely used, standardised pallets that are worth not only buying but also selling. If you want to sell pallets, it is important to know which aspects determine the buy-back price.
The following five factors will help you understand how buy-back prices are calculated.
1. The condition and quality grade of the pallet
The buy-back price of pallets depends largely on their condition:
Grade 1 pallets – as new, with minimal wear, can be sold at the best price.
Grade 2 pallets – used but structurally stable, bought at a lower price.
Damaged pallets or pallets in need of repair – accepted in some places, but at a lower price.
2. Current market supply and demand
The price of EUR pallets can vary depending on the supply and demand prevailing on the market. For example, in the logistics peak season (the end-of-year shipping period, before holidays) pallet prices often rise, while in quieter periods they may be lower.
3. The size and type of the pallet
The most commonly accepted and most valuable pallet types:
EUR pallet (EPAL, 1200x800 mm) – the most sought-after and most valuable type.
One-way pallets – less valuable, but bought in certain cases.
Heat-treated pallets (ISPM 15) – suitable for export, so they are often bought at a higher price.
4. The quantity of pallets
When handing over larger quantities, a better unit price can be achieved, as buyers often apply volume discounts. Most buyers set a minimum quantity requirement; for example, selling is more worthwhile above 50–100 pallets.
5. Transport conditions
Pallets are large and heavy products, so transport costs can significantly affect the buy-back price. Some buyers collect the pallets, while in other cases the transport costs are borne by the seller.
